As the season of giving approaches, this Giving Tuesday, SAWA SAWA invites you to be part of a transformative journey—a journey that empowers women, preserves wildlife, and provides sustainable solutions to poverty.

Together, we can make an impact that ripples across continents, from artisan villages in Kenya to conscious consumers around the globe.

At SAWA SAWA, we believe in creating wholesome solutions that address the most pressing challenges faced by women and their communities. With your support, we can continue our work in:

1. Women’s Economic Empowerment By providing tools, training, and sustainable income opportunities, we empower women to take charge of their futures. Every handcrafted basket, bag, or accessory sold enables women artisans to gain economic independence, support their families, and invest in their communities.

2. Solar Lights to Protect Wildlife and Communities In rural Kenya, human-wildlife conflict is a daily reality. Your investment helps us distribute solar-powered motion lights to artisan villages near wildlife habitats, creating safe spaces for both people and animals. By supporting this initiative, you’re contributing to the protection of vulnerable species like lions, leopards, and elephants, while fostering harmony between humans and nature.

3. Menstrual Health Resources to Keep Girls in School Education is key to breaking the cycle of poverty. Sadly, many girls in artisan villages miss school due to a lack of menstrual hygiene resources. With your help, we can provide menstrual kits and reproductive health education, ensuring that no girl has to choose between her dignity and her future.

4. Supporting Daily Operations Running a nonprofit that makes a global impact requires resources for operations, communication, and logistics. From maintaining artisan partnerships to scaling our efforts, your support ensures the smooth running of our mission. --- Our Mission SAWA SAWA, which means “It Will Be Well” in Swahili, was founded on the belief that fashion, craftsmanship, and conservation can be forces for good.

Co-founders Anne Drane and Catherine Wambui Mung'ara are passionate about creating a bridge between tradition and modernity, bringing ancient Kenyan craftsmanship to the global stage while addressing the root causes of poverty in artisan communities.

Through our work, we: Empower women with sustainable income opportunities. Preserve African culture through traditional craftsmanship. Invest in locally led solutions to poverty and conservation.

Provide dignity and access to resources for girls and women. --- What You’re Supporting When you give to SAWA SAWA, you’re not just donating—you’re investing in lasting change. You’re empowering a mother in Kenya to provide for her family. You’re helping protect endangered wildlife for future generations. You’re keeping a young girl in school, giving her a chance to dream. You’re contributing to sustainable development that benefits people and the planet.
